MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 
 

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of experience in computer systems analysis and/or computer programming; or
 

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the computer sciences or management information systems and three (3) years of experience as described above; or
 

A master's degree from an accredited college or university in one of the computer sciences or management information systems and two (2) years of experience as described above; or
 

A doctorate from an accredited college or university in one of the computer sciences or management information systems and one (1) year of experience as described above; or
 

Five (5) years of experience in computer systems analysis and/or computer programming (excluding micro/personal computers) and either (1) completion of a 720 classroom hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in an area of data processing (excluding computer operations and data entry), or (2) 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of college course work from an accredited institution which includes four courses in computer science or management information systems. 
 

Experience in computer systems analysis can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education. 
 

Completion of a one-year program of study from a vocational/technical school in an area of data processing (excluding data entry) can substitute for one year of the required computer systems analysis and/or computer programming experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
 

This position is designated to serve in an on-call status.  When activated, the incumbent must respond to the call within 15 minutes, and if necessary, arrive on-site within 1 hour. This includes supporting the Emergency Support Function (ESF) of the department during critical events and disasters.

JOB DUTIES:
 

Implementing and maintaining both physical and virtualized servers within in a hybrid on-prem/Azure environment.
 

Assist in the administration and configuration of Microsoft Azure Cloud Services, Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Active Directory, Storage Area Networks (SAN), Domain Name System (DNS), and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP).
 

Assist in Internet Information Services (IIS) management and troubleshooting, code deployments, and SSL and domain name management (purchase, renewal, and installation).  Utilize serverless technology to migrate workloads the cloud (App Services/Containerization).
 

Assist with backups of all software and data on all Windows and Unix/Linux servers.  Recover and restore data as needed. 
 

Provide technical and problem-solving assistance to the department’s enterprise network infrastructure.
 

This includes diagnostic evaluation and technical troubleshooting of software and hardware problems.
 

Assist with daily monitoring and problem notification of all servers.
 

Perform related work as required, which will include, but not be limited to, adherence to the policies and procedures of the Department’s Information Resource Security Program (Chapter 8 – Department’s Supervisory Manual) and allocate time as requested for Disaster Recovery activities.
 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
 

  • Knowledge of distributed processing operations, procedures, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMWare, Hyper-V, and Azure Virtual Machines.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and a hybrid Exchange environment.
  • Knowledge of Internet Information Services (IIS) Management.
  • Knowledge of serverless technologies such as Kubernetes and App Services.
  • Knowledge of backup software such as Commvault.
  • Knowledge of cloud services in Azure, AWS, Oracle, and Google.
  • Knowledge of PowerShell as it applies to the administration and management of Microsoft servers and tools.
  • Ability to configure servers and associated equipment.
  • Ability to provide, setup, document and configure existing or new hardware and software solutions.
  • Ability to develop training programs related to distributed processing operations and procedures.
  • Ability to monitor and resolve problems with distributed computer systems components.
  • Ability to support and maintain custom and Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) applications.
  • Ability to configure, administer and maintain server operating systems such as Windows, Linux and Solaris.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 50lbs of equipment.
